What AI dashcams do for driver safety

How driver-facing and road-facing AI cameras warn drivers in the moment and give fleet owners evidence when it matters.

16 October 2026

A normal dashcam records what happened. An AI dashcam also tries to stop it happening, by spotting risky driving as it happens and warning the driver in the cab.

Two cameras, two jobs

A road-facing camera records the road ahead and, on supported models, warns of close following and lane departure. A driver-facing camera watches for signs of fatigue, distraction, phone use and smoking.

Warnings in the cab

When the AI detects a risk, it plays an audible warning straight away. A tired driver who hears "please take a rest" has a chance to pull over before something goes wrong.

Alerts and clips for managers

Each event is saved as a short video clip with the time, location and speed, and sent to the platform. Managers do not need to watch hours of footage; they review the moments that matter.

Evidence when you need it

After an accident or a complaint, footage shows what really happened. That protects good drivers who were not at fault and gives you clear evidence for insurance and disputes.

Coaching, not just policing

The best results come when cameras are part of a coaching programme:

  1. Explain the system to drivers before it is fitted.
  2. Review the week's events with each driver using real clips.
  3. Recognise drivers who improve, and follow up with those who do not.

Is it right for your fleet?

AI cameras suit long-haul trucks, buses, school transport, matatus and any fleet with a driver safety policy. Read more about AI video telematics and driver safety, or message us to talk through your fleet.
